Student Health Services provide medical care to FSU students through family practice-type and priority clinics at no charge through their FSU fees.
Services
FSU provides many services and resources to support students academically, physically, and emotionally in their pursuit of academic excellence. From the student center and health clinic to counseling services and wellness programs, FSU provides everything necessary for an enjoyable college experience.
The 59,000-square-foot Wellness Center stands as a physical embodiment of the university’s mission to serve its students in mind, body, and spirit. At its center of campus location lie recreation and fitness programs offered to students, as well as health services including counseling services, medical providers, nutritionists, and nutritionists.
We also provide rapid 5-minute tests for Strep Throat Mono Virus Influenza as well as evaluation for minor cuts or abrasions.
Each year, the Health Center provides flu shots to protect university communities against influenza infection.The Wellness Center provides one-stop care for student health needs.
Programs
Florida State University offers an array of programs to promote student health and well-being at all stages of the academic experience, including health center services, counseling services, and alcohol education as required resources for their studies. Students are also strongly encouraged to make use of The Student Resiliency Project web toolkit, which promotes wellness through stress management, belonging, and building resilience; campus-wide resources include the Green Dot bystander intervention program; Safe Zone training/ally development sessions; and The LGBTQ+ Allies & Safe Places Initiative, which fosters acceptance and support of lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer people intersex.
FSU’s Center for Health Advocacy and Wellness (CHAW) encourages students to make healthier lifestyle decisions that promote academic success while contributing to long-term health and wellbeing. CHAW offers health promotion programs including nutrition counseling, confidential HIV testing, wellness coaching sessions, and sexual health consultations; eating disorder prevention programming; as well as body image programming.
The 59,000-square-foot Health & Wellness Center serves as a physical representation of the university’s mission of holistic wellbeing for mind, body, and spirit. Conveniently located at the heart of campus, it houses all health and wellness services related to university campuses in one convenient place, such as the Leach Student Recreation Center with an extensive fitness and movement lab, outdoor adventure programs, and the largest infinity edge pool available anywhere among colleges or universities.

The Health and Wellness Center (HWC) building on Florida State University’s campus serves as home for University Health Services (UHS), an award-winning leader in college health and wellness providing quality medical services, health promotion programs, and education to its community. UHS actively encourages its students to make healthy lifestyle decisions that support academic success and ensure long-term wellbeing.
Current New College students may take advantage of Student Health Services during both Fall and Spring terms in order to receive medical, sexual health, gynecology exams, foreign travel vaccinations, and allergy shots, as well as community outreach and education services. UHS also maintains an active outreach and education program that serves New College communities at large.

Health Services staff are passionate about enabling students to excel, with clinicians certified in specialties like family practice, women’s health, foreign travel clinics, allergy clinics, and diagnostic imaging available for patient consultations.
Counseling & Psychological Services (CPS) at FSU offers mental health counseling services and prevention programming at no cost for currently enrolled students. Their professional staff are enthusiastic about helping students deal with homesickness, relationship difficulties, sexuality/gender identity matters, cultural concerns, eating and body image concerns, as well as anxiety/depression issues.
Students are strongly encouraged to get a flu vaccine each fall; watch for email announcements of availability! In addition, our center provides TB testing for $20 (also available from local pharmacies and urgent care clinics).
Students seeking laboratory services at our in-house lab must bring their insurance card. Quest, the laboratory company that performs testing sent from our Health Center, will bill insurance policy holders directly; should any questions arise about insurance billing, please reach out to Health Information Management.
